consequence not expected

I was trying to ask my mom a question and she gave me a look that made me think she did not love me anymore! but later on she asked me what was wrong and i told her i didnt think she loved me n e more! she then explained that she did!

This sort of thing happens to me a lot! My boss gives very.... let's just say not particluarly pleasant looks to people all the time. Me and several of my coworkers assume her angst is directed toward us when it is usually directed toward her workload or other problems. We've all kind of learned to just ignore her, haha, unless she specifically calls us out.
